Dying too young

Mary Winchester was twenty-nine years old when she was killed on November 2nd 1983. She had been in bed when she heard a strange noise coming from her young baby boy's room over the baby monitor. She went to investigate and saw a dark figure standing over the crib. Assuming it was her husband John, she went downstairs to turn the TV off, only to find John asleep downstairs. She rushed back upstairs to Sam's room, screaming for help. When John came running into the room, he found her hanging from the ceiling, dripping blood onto Sam. She suddenly burst into flames, setting the whole house on fire. There was no sign of the thing that had killed her.

When Sam and Dean returned to their house twenty-two years later, they discovered a poltergeist haunting the family that had moved in. They also discovered that their mother's ghost was still roaming the house when she materialised in front of them to save Sam from the polteirgeist that had turned on him. She sacrificed her spirit self to once again protect her son.
